France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga bludgeoned Roger Federer to an historic defeat to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals Wednesday, as the Swiss star suffered his first ever Grand Slam loss after being two sets up.

The sensational 3-6, 6-7 (3/7), 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 result condemned six-time champion Federer to his second successive quarter-final defeat at the All England Club. The powerful 12th seed looked down and out as ice-cool Federer picked him off at will to stroll two sets up on Centre Court but he left the Swiss reeling with a ferocious onslaught to win 3-6 6-7 6-4 6-4 6-4 and reach his third major semi-final.

It was the first time 16-times grand slam champion Federer had lost a match having led by two sets and put a huge question mark over the 29-year-old's chances of matching Pete Sampras's seven Wimbledon singles titles. For 26-year-old Tsonga, it will be his first Wimbledon semi-final spot where he will tackle world number two Novak Djokovic for a place in Sunday's final.

"It was amazing. I played unbelievable. It's never easy to come back against Roger. I'm so happy, it's crazy," said Tsonga, whose best Grand Slam performance was runners-up spot at the 2008 Australian Open.

Blagojevich Trial Ends Convicted in Corruption - Watch Full Video

Monday, the man who was once the governor of the state of Illinois was found guilty on 17 of 20 charges of corruption. Blagojevich was accused mainly of attempting to sell the seat that Barack Obama held in the United States Senate when he was elected President of the United States in November of 2008.

This one was far more subdued, as even Illinoisans grew tired of their impeached ex-Governor’s seemingly never-ending legal saga. Between trials, Blagojevich, whom I wrote about for The New Yorker a year ago, made few media appearances, and the judge, James Zagel, reportedly issued a gag order on the attorneys in the case. Before the decision was read, the couple looked flushed, and the former governor blew his wife a kiss across the courtroom, then stood expressionless, with his hands clasped tightly.

The verdict capped a long-running spectacle in which Blagojevich became famous for blurting on a recorded phone call that his ability to appoint Obama's successor to the Senate was "f---ing golden" and that he wouldn't let it go "for f---ing nothing."The former governor spoke only briefly with reporters as he left the courthouse.
